About
Arno Akkermans is doing research at the Faculty of Law on the impact of law and legal procedure on the wellbeing and health of individuals, in the context of civil procedure in general and of the settlement of personal injury claims in particular. Another research area is the optimalisation of the cooperation – in the context of court procedure and out of court settlement – between lawyers and doctors who are giving expert opinions. Arno works with multidisciplinary research teams and cooperates with colleagues at the Faculty of Psychology and at the VU University medical centre (VUmc). He is co-founder of the Amsterdam Interdisciplinary centre of Law and Health (IGER) of VU and VUmc
