About
I am assistant professor of Sustainable Service Innovation at VU University Amsterdam; and co-founder and -director of "Gartner Cool Vendor 2011" Collibra nv/sa, a Brussels-based semantic software company that spun off from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). I hold a PhD, BSc and MSc in principle computer science, all three from VUB.
I am the key co-designer of the principles and methods of Business Semantics Management (see my PhD), that are underpinning Collibra's innovative software that is run by various public administrations and multinational corporations in Europe and the USA.
My current study of the World Wide Web is driven by following research questions:
1) how can networked enterprises jointly offer electronic services via the Web ?
2) how to devise green and profitable strategies for sustainable service innovation ?
2) how can we make Internet technology more intelligent so that services can self-adapt to local customer experience as well as emerging global trends ?
I authored more than 40 publications in books, international journals and conferences. I am vice-chair of the IFIP WG 12.7 on Social Semantics and Collective Intelligence, secretary of IFIP WG 2.14 on Service-based Systems, and member of The Amsterdam Network Institute, ACM and IEEE.
In addition I am appointed by the European Commission as an expert for evaluating proposals and reviewing projects in FP7, the their funding programme for research and innovation.
